Position Description: The Department of Mathematics at Harvard University welcomes applications for a postdoctoral position supported by the Simons Collaboration on Universal Statistics in Number Theory.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research in one or more of the areas supported by the Simons Collaboration, including arithmetic statistics, analytic number theory, probability theory of random algebraic structures, and applications of those areas to other areas of mathematics, including algebraic topology. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be supervised by Melanie Matchett Wood. The Fellow will be encouraged to interact and collaborate with members of the other nodes of the Simons Collaboration on Universal Statistics in Number Theory.

This is a three-year position, with an expected start date of July 1, 2027.

Priority will be given to applications received before December 1, 2026.

Required qualifications: PhD in mathematics at the time that the appointment begins, with a research background in areas related to the Simons Collaboration on Universal Statistics in Number Theory.

Pay offered to the selected candidate is dependent on factors such as years of experience, training or qualification, field of scholarship, and accomplishments in the field.

The ranges for researchers are as follows:

• Postdocs: $67,600-$80,000
• Research Associates: $68,964-$95,000
